Ontario has moved from a focus on providing care through large institutions to one of greater inclusion in the community.

We are working with adults with a developmental disability, their families and our agency partners to create more opportunities that foster greater independence and community involvement.

Our videos and stories show how we are helping more people with a developmental disability not just live in the community, but be part of the community.

See how the Passport Mentoring Initiative can help high school students who have a developmental disability plan for their future after high school.

Why were the facilities built in the first place? Why were they closed? How did society's attitudes towards people with a developmental disability change over the years? How has government policy and legislation evolved in response? Find out more
