Strengthening Community Care For Vulnerable People In The Greater Toronto Area

The McGuinty government is improving the province's social services system with grants of more than $9 million to 48 community agencies that provide direct services to people in need. These investments will stimulate economic activity and improve the quality of life for people with a developmental disability, women and their children fleeing violence in their homes and others who are vulnerable.

Community developmental services agencies provide residential and day programs for people with a developmental disability as well as services and support for those who are caring for loved ones in their homes.

Violence against women agencies provide safe shelters for women and their children, as well as transitional and housing support as women work to create a new life for themselves and their children, free of violence.

In Toronto and area, 33 agencies are receiving a total of $4,781,079.
