When support recipients receive social assistance, they may assign the support order or domestic contract to a social assistance delivery agent (such as Ontario Works or the Ontario Disability Support Program). After doing this, the agency will receive the support payments.

If you are not sure if a support order is assigned to a social assistance delivery agency, fill out a Confirmation of Assignment Form and send it to the address or fax number indicated on the form.

If the support payments go to a social assistance delivery agent, a caseworker at the program must consent to FRO ending or lowering the payments, even if the payor and the recipient agree that payments should end or be lower.

If a caseworker does not consent, the payor and the recipient must go to court to have the support order changed. Then a copy of the order and any supporting court documents must be sent to FRO.
