If you have a disability that restricts your mobility, you may be eligible for help from the Home and Vehicle Modification Program.

The program provides funding for eligible adults and children to make modifications to their homes and vehicles in order to help them:

  • continue living in their homes
  • avoid job loss, and
  • participate in their communities.

You must try to access all other public or private funding (e.g., Residential Rehabilitation Assistance Program for Disabled Persons, or insurance policies) before you apply for the Home and Vehicle Modification Program.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible, you must:

  1. live in Ontario
  2. have a substantial impairment that:
    1. is expected to last one year or more, and
    2. makes it hard for you to care for yourself, take part in community life or work.
    AND
  3. qualify financially

How much money can I get?

If you are eligible, you can apply for:

  • up to $15,000 lifetime maximum for home modifications, and/or
  • up to $15,000 every ten years for vehicle modifications.

Depending on your income, you may be asked to pay for some of the cost of the modifications.
