The value of your assets is one of the things we look at monthly when deciding if you are eligible, or continue to be eligible, for ODSP.
You have to tell your caseworker about any assets that you or your family own.
Assets are property, possessions or money that belong to you and the family members with whom you live. Some assets may affect whether you are eligible for ODSP, while others won’t. That’s why it’s important to report all your assets to your caseworker.
Here are a few examples of the things you can own that won’t change the amount of income support you get:

Your caseworker can help you figure out how your assets will affect your ODSP income support. That’s why it’s important that you tell your caseworker about all your assets. You can report any changes in your assets by filling out the Changes Report form.

Yes, there are asset limits. These asset limits only apply to assets that can affect your eligibility (see above). The limit depends on the size of your family.
In some cases, you can get approval to save money over and above your asset limit.
For example, you may get approval to save up money to buy an item or service for health- or disability-related reasons.

Yes. Tell your caseworker about any assets you or your family have, receive or sell. This could include things like getting money or a new car. Knowing what your assets are, and what they are worth, will help your caseworker figure out if you continue to be eligible for ODSP, and if you’re getting the right amount of income support.
You can ask for an internal review. Someone at ODSP will review a specific decision that affects your ODSP. The review will make sure the decision followed ODSP rules.
You must ask your ODSP office for an internal review within 30 days of when you received the decision.
