HOW TO MAKE PAYMENTS

Once a support order or domestic contract is registered with the Family Responsibility Office (FRO) payments must be made through the FRO and not directly to the support recipient.  When a payor (the person who is making payments) has a regular source of income, the Family Responsibility Office (FRO) arranges for support payments to be deducted from the source of income. However, the payor must provide support funds to the FRO in the event that the automatic deduction process has not yet begun or if the regular income source is no longer remitting money to the FRO. This can happen if the payor has been laid off, is on strike, or on sick leave.
 
When a payor does not have an income source or is self-employed, they must pay support directly to the FRO. There are a number of payment options available:

Telebanking

To use this method, register with your bank at one of the following numbers:

To use this method, register with your bank through the relevant website:

The Family Responsibility Office is a registered payee with most major financial institutions. To set up this method online or via telebanking with your bank, select the Family Responsibility Office as the payee.  You’ll find this name listed under the category entitled “Ontario" and the sub-heading of “government" or "other".
 
When asked to enter the "account number", please enter your 7 digit Family Responsibility Office case number. Your case number always starts with a zero (0) and is seven digits long.

Cheque or money order

Cheques or money orders must be made payable to:

Your first and last name and case number must be on the front of your cheque or money order.

Pre-Authorized Payment

Pre-authorized payments allow support payments to be deducted regularly and automatically from a payor's bank account. This option is not available to all payors. If you wish to make pre-authorized payments, fill out the Pre-authorized Payments form or contact the FRO.
