ACCESSIBILITY STANDARDS: INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS

The Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005 calls on us to work together to develop and implement accessibility standards that will apply to public, private and non-profit sectors. Standards are being developed in five important areas of our lives, one of which is information and communications.

The standards development committee is:

  • studying the kinds of barriers that people with a range of disabilities experience in the area of information and communications in Ontario; and
  • developing accessibility standards to help businesses and organizations communicate with and provide information to consumers of all abilities.
