Tracy MacCharles, Chair, from Pickering is a human resources consultant specializing in organizational design and strategies to help leaders achieve results though effective workforce management. Her previous roles include vice-president of human resources for Manulife Financial, Senior Human Resources Advisor, National Trust, and various human resources leadership roles in the Ontario government, where she worked on human rights and employment equity.

Elizabeth Grandbois, Vice Chair

Elizabeth Grandbois, Vice Chair, from Burlington, is the Founder and Director of Elizabeth’s Concert of Hope, a foundation which has raised over $2.5 million dollars for ALS awareness, research and patient care. Elizabeth was inducted into the Terry Fox Hall of Fame on November 5, 2007, in recognition of her efforts to increase public awareness and improve quality of life for others living with ALS. She has won numerous other awards for her work, including the Governor General Award for Meritorious Service, the Esmond Butler Volunteer Award, the Queen’s Jubilee Medal and recognition as Halton Woman of the Year.

David Borthwick of Oakville is president of Accessible Solutions Inc. David’s goal in establishing Accessible Solutions was to apply his expertise in construction engineering technology and working as a project manager in the construction industry to assist those with various levels of ability/mobility.

 

 

 


Stuart Kidd

Stuart KiddStuart Kidd retired from a career in municipal planning. His experience includes property development, sales, leasing and management for a provincial crown corporation. His past appointed positions include Vice Chair, Physically Handicapped Adults Rehab Association, Chair, North Bay Police Services Board and Board Member of the Ontario Trillium Foundation. He is currently a Board Member of the Ontario Conservation Review Board, Member of the North bay Drug Awareness Committee and he co-manages a family property portfolio.

Frank Maggisano of Woodbridge has worked as a lawyer in the greater Toronto area in a variety of legal areas over the past several years and is licensed to practice in both Ontario and new York State.  Currently, Frank acts as a legal counsel with a company serving the real estate industry.  Frank is knowledgeable in various real estate related laws and regulations both provincial and municipal.  Frank is also a member of the Foundation Fighting Blindness and the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.

 


Dr. Terry McQuaid

Dr. Terry McQuaid

Dr. Terry McQuaid is a Registered Clinical Psychologist and consultant in Richmond Hill, Ontario. She has been providing psychological services to hospitals, university counseling centers, private clinics and corporations. Currently, she holds positions with York University and the Traumatology Institute (Canada) where she works as an instructor and as a clinician. She is a member of the Board of Directors of Tropicana Community Services. Her areas of psychological services include assessments, consultation and training on anxiety, depression, rehabilitation, substance abuse, trauma, disability and other stress-related illnesses. Dr. McQuaid’s focus is on emotional health and well-being.

Ann-Marie has a broad background of frontline and administrative social work in mental health services. She is a social worker at the Royal Ottawa Mental Health Centre and an adjunct professor with the Carleton University school of social work. Ann-Marie is the chair of the Mental Health Committee of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. She also has a Masters degree in social work from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Judith Parisien lives in Alfred and has worked for over 18 years at Le Phénix, a community development agency for persons with disabilities, where she has developed various education and reference tools to help break down the barriers that prevent people with disabilities from participating fully in society.

 

 

 

 


Jeffrey Preston

Jeffrey Preston

Mr. Jeffrey Preston of London, completed an undergraduate degree in Media and the Public Interest at the University of Western Ontario. He is now completing an MA in Media Studies. He won Ontario Graduate Scholarship, a Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council grant and Teaching Assistant Award in 2007. Jeff is returning to the University of Western Ontario this year as a Doctorate candidate in Media Studies. He has sat as chair of the Provincial Council and vice-chair on the Board of Directors with Easter Seals Ontario.


Faelyne Templer

Faelyne TemplerFaelyne Templer is the founder of a Durham-based non-profit organization called Avocation that offers free vocational training and job support to people looking for work. Faelyne was honoured in 2006 with a nomination as the YWCA Durham's Women of Distinction for her work in the community through Avocation. She is also the Business Co-chair of the Durham Region Local Training Board, Executive Board Member of ACTEW (A Commitment to Training and Employment for Women), a member of the Ajax Pickering Board of Trade, a member of the Whitby Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Durham Region Employment Network and a former member of the YWCA's Women of Distinction Committee.

Dr. Kathryn Woodcock is an associate professor at Toronto’s Ryerson University where she teaches, researches and consults in ergonomics related to safety and disabilities. She is a member of Deaf Women United and Deaf Women in Science and Engineering and was the first deaf president of The Canadian Hearing Society.
