Policy directives are an interpretation of the laws that govern Ontario’s social assistance programs.
They are also the rules and guidelines that Ontario Works and Ontario Disability Support Program staff follow when making decisions about eligibility and benefits.
Policy directives explain:
- how Ontario Works and the Ontario Disability Support Program work
- what supports are available under both programs, and
- the roles and responsibilities of both staff and clients.
The policy directives are good places to look if you want a detailed description of a policy or if you need answers for specific questions about the laws.
