If you are a non-profit, community or public sector organization and need help, Ontario Works may be able to help through community placements.
About Community Placements
Community placements give Ontario Works clients the opportunity to work in volunteer positions in non-profit organizations.
With your help, our clients will have the chance to:
- learn new skills and brush up on old ones
- improve their confidence and self-esteem
- make contacts that can lead to future employment
- get recent work experience and references.
By becoming a community sponsor, you get help while helping others get back to work and take control of their future.
How it works
As a community sponsor, you tell us the kind of position you need filled. Examples of placements include:
- office help
- special events
- fundraising
- maintenance or conservation projects.
Ontario Works will:
- meet with you to discuss the skills required for the position
- pre-screen and refer Ontario Works clients that meet your requirements
- let you choose the person who best fits your organization.
Community placements cannot be used to displace a paid employee within the agency or to replace work done by a paid employee within the past two years.
For more information, please contact your local Ontario Works office.
