The Family Responsibility and Support Arrears Enforcement Act 1996 establishes the Director of the Family Responsibility Office, who has the duty to enforce support orders in Ontario. The act authorizes the Director to take various steps to enforce unpaid support payments. The Director receives and records the support payments made and sends the payments to the support recipient.
On June 13, 2005, the Family Responsibility and Support Arrears Enforcement Amendment Act, 2005 became law in Ontario. The act changes parts of the Family Responsibility and Support Arrears Enforcement Act 1996.
