The Interjurisdictional Support Orders Act, 2002 is a law that simplifies and streamlines processes, making it easier and less costly for families to register, establish and change child and spousal support orders when one party lives outside of Ontario in a reciprocating jurisdiction. A reciprocating jurisdiction is another province, territory, state or country that has entered into a formal arrangement with Ontario to enforce each other's support orders. Reciprocating jurisdictions must have support laws that are similar to Ontario's.
