Note, the following sites were once considered to be Schedule 1 institutions (which were directly operated by the Government) along with each of the institutions listed above, however they were then restructured, and are no longer considered to be Schedule 1 institutions:

  • L.S. Penrose was a Schedule 1 institution in 1974 when the Developmental Services Act was enacted, but was de-listed and became a division of Ongwanada in 1977, a Schedule 2 facility (which is funded by the Government, but is operated with the oversight of an independent board of volunteers from the community).
  • Surrey Place Centre was a Schedule 1 institution in 1974 when the Developmental Services Act was enacted, but was de-listed in October 1987. Surrey Place Centre now provides diagnosis, assessment, counseling, service coordination, behaviour therapy and education programs for individuals (children and adults) with a developmental disability and their families on an outpatient/outreach basis.
  • The Child and Parent Resource Institute was a Schedule 1 institution in 1974, but was de-listed, and now provides short-term in-patient, out-patient and community outreach services for children.
